“Advent ... helps us to understand fully the value and meaning of the mystery of Christmas. It is not just about commemorating the historical event, which occurred some 2,000 years ago in a little village of Judea. Instead, it is necessary to understand that the whole of our life must be an ‘advent,’ a vigilant awaiting of the final coming of Christ. “To predispose our mind to welcome the Lord who, as we say in the Creed, one day will come to judge the living and the dead, we must learn to recognize him as present in the events of daily life. Therefore Advent is, so to speak, an intense training that directs us decisively toward him who already came, who will come, and who comes continuously” Welcome the Lord at every moment, in every person. "Our Lord, come!"(1 Cor 16:22) Jesus, savior, you are welcome in my heart and in my whole being. Live in me always!

Since so many community members are traveling this winter break, we will not have English Mass

services on Dec. 29, and January 5th. Our first Mass in the New Year will be on January 12, 2014.

Volunteers are needed to keep this Mass running smoothly. We are in need for the following...

• Communications email and organizing the weekend schedule. Most of this work is done from

  your computer.

• Eucharistic Ministers – on Sundays help share the gifts of Bread or Wine with the congregation.

• Transportation – Every other Sunday – pick up the visiting Priest from the Heidelberg Train

  station and bring the Father to Mass. Then after Mass give Father a ride back to the train station in Heidelberg.

  Please consider giving of your time to help keep our Mass running smoothly. Usually the service is not needed every weekend, but we must have some more volunteers. There is a signup sheet on the table in the back of the church, or please send an email to sign up. Thank you to those who have volunteered.
